Ferrari 458 Italia China Edition at 1:8 Scale available now

Amalgam Fine Model Cars is proud to launch the 458 Italia China Edition.
This stunning replica of the Ferrari 458 Italia China Limited Edition at 1/8th Scale was officially launched to celebrate 20 years of Ferrari in China and the Chinese Year of the Dragon. Launched in 2012, this special limited edition features unique Dragon graphics on the bonnet, golden detail stripes on the side with matching gold painted wheels.
A special paint called 'Marco Polo Red' has been used on the body, whilst the inside features a gold-painted plaque, special stitch work with the character 'Dragon' stitched in the headrest in traditional Chinese calligraphy.
Built by skilled craftsmen, the 458 Italia China Edition has been created using authentic CAD data supplied by Ferrari and has been faithfully reproduced in incredible details to match the real car.
This beautiful hand-built replica model is available in strict limited edition of 199 models. It comes presented on its own carbon-fibre display base and acrylic cover for protection. A certificate will also be presented for authenticity.

Amalgam - Proud supporters of Gumball 2013

Gumball 3000 was created in 1999, when founder Maximillion Cooper invited 50 friends to take part in a 3000-mile drive around Europe. Spread across six days, through 6 countries, with dinners and parties each night, in stunning locations, the concept immediately captured the imagination of the participants and press alike.
The event kicked off with a wild party at the Bluebird Club attended by London's A-list including Kate Moss, Billy Zane, Guy Ritchie, Chris Eubank, Dannii Minogue and even Monica Lewinski. Sir Terence Conran dropped the checkered flag and 55 cars set off from London to Rimini and back, covering 2 Principalities, 5 Grand Prix circuits and 3000 miles.Over the years, the rally has gone from strength to strength, and in 2013 Amalgam Fine Model Cars are proud to support and attend this exciting motorsport event.
We are planning to display a large 1:8 scale model of a Ferrari 458 Spider in full Gumball livery at the start of the Rally in Copenhagen on May the 18th.
Amalgam will also be donating a special prize for Monaco, which will be a 1:8 scale McLaren F1 model, with a special Gumball plaque commemorating the event.
Looking through the entry list on the Gumball website, there are many fine cars entering the rally and Amalgam can offer a perfect replica of many of these in full Gumball livery including license plates, correct interior and every detail exactly as the real car.

Along with our fine models, we will be showing a hand-crafted display case for the model and a ‘parts board’ that shows the very large number of parts the models are made from, in many cases over twelve hundred. Our engaging display of large scale models will follow the rally and we hope to attract a new audience to our unique, world class collection of fine model cars.
Purchasing a model
The models listed above are fully hand-crafted at a large 1:8 scale (approximately 60cm /0.6 metre in length).
Creating an Amalgam model is a time-consuming process involving small teams of highly skilled model makers. For each model a master set of components is created, using a combination of digital machining, traditional engineering and hand crafting skills. Creating this set of master components takes around 3,000 hours of dedicated work. Using these master components, a silicon rubber mould is created for each part of the model. Only around 20 prototyping resin parts are cast from these moulds before they are worn out and a new mould must be made. This technology, usually used to create prototype components in the automotive design industry, creates castings with superb levels of detail and accuracy. Many Amalgam models have over twelve hundred individual components.

Amalgam to model RUSH cars at 1:8 scale - McLaren M23D - Ferrari 312 T2

Director Ron Howard’s RUSH movie is set against the sexy, glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing in the 1970s. Based on the true story of a great sporting rivalry between handsome English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth), and his methodical, brilliant opponent Niki Lauda, (Daniel Bruhl). The story follows their distinctly different personal styles on and off the track and the astonishing 1976 season in which both drivers were willing to risk everything to become world champion in a sport with no margin for error.
Their rivalry and friendship was legendary, of Hunt, Lauda says "For me, James Hunt has been the most charismatic personality that ever existed in Formula One."
We are producing the Hunt and Lauda F1 cars at 1:8 scale - the Ferrari 312 T2, chassis number 026 driven by Niki Lauda during the 1976 season and the McLaren M23D driven by the 1976 World Champion James Hunt.

Amalgam at Ralph Lauren - London and Milan 2013

Amalgam fine model cars have supported Ralph Lauren at two exciting new events, one in London and one in Milan.
The London event was held at the Ralph Lauren Store in New Bond Street and was organised in conjunction with the Quintessentially Group who were launching a new book.
The event was a great opportunity for Amalgam to display their unique, silver Ferrari 250GTO body sculpture. This beautiful, hand-crafted piece has been made at 1:5 scale and took centre stage.
Amalgam also offered a model build demonstration, with members of the Amalgam Team on hand to explain the complexity of the models, and the highly-skilled assembly process. There is a fine selection of Amalgam models on display in the store, the ‘Ralph Lauren Fine Model Car Collection’ which is available exclusively from Ralph Lauren stores worldwide.
The Milan event took place on 17th April and featured a large selection of Amalgam models from the ‘Ralph Lauren Fine Model Car Collection’. The event was attended by Antonio Ghini, editor-in-chief of The Official Ferrari Magazine and author of numerous Ferrari-related publications, who made an engaging speech.
Amalgam were represented by Managing Director Sandy Copeman along with Mark Benson and Rob Winstone. Amalgam displayed the impressive’ Ferrari 375 Plus parts board’ that demonstrates the high number of component parts used in an Amalgam model, in many cases over twelve hundred. Other models from the collection on show included a Ferrari 250 GTO, Ferrari 250TR, Mercedes-Benz SSK Count Trossi and Mercedes-Benz 300SL Papillon Gullwing.
Both events were well attended and successful both for Amalgam and for Ralph Lauren.

Collector Studio - New Motorsport Gallery in Toronto

Collector Studio has been specializing in rare Ferrari, F1, sportscar & other vintage auto collectibles since 1991. A new gallery has just opened in Toronto, boasting one of the world's largest assemblies of unique automobilia.
Collector Studio were at their previous location for 21 years before moving along the street to an original row house built in 1889. This has been fully converted and modernized to include 10' ceilings, wooden floors and large bright windows. The new gallery is now much larger, 3600 sq ft. and is on 4 levels.
Basement is storage/packing, first floor is modern car era from 1970-present, second floor is vintage 1910-1969 and very upscale. Third floor houses a private lounge with office, outdoor patio and kitchen area. Almost the entire line of amalgam models are on display here.

Amalgam to launch the new LaFerrari at 1:8 scale

The new Ferrari and its name were officially unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show.
The LaFerrari is the first hybrid electric vehicle from Ferrari, providing the highest horsepower of any Ferrari (950bhp) while decreasing fuel consumption by 40 percent.
This amazing car has a top speed exceeding 350 kilometres per hour (220 mph), with a 0-to-100-kilometre-per-hour (0 to 62 mph) time of less than three seconds. The Laferrari achieves the speed of 300 kilometres per hour (190 mph) within 15 seconds.
Ferrari claims a CO2 emission of 330g/km for this car. There will be 499 copies made.

As Aston Martin continues its 100th birthday celebration throughout 2013, the Gaydon, England, automaker has debuted three models at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The new Rapide S is making its world premier at the event, while the Centenary Edition Vanquish and the Q by Aston Martin are making their global motor show debuts.
Aston also picked Geneva to show off its “Q by Aston Martin” bespoke personalization service, which allows buyers to customize cars (and even consumer goods) beyond the normal build sheet. The astonishing new McLaren P1™, has been unveiled in production form at the Geneva Motor Show. During the press conference McLaren Automotive outlined the clear goal for the latest offering - to be the best driver’s car in the world on road and track. Red, White and Gold - Launching the Lotus 49B

On Friday 22nd February at Race Retro, Amalgam Fine Model Cars launched their superb new 1:8 scale model of the 1968 Monaco-winning Gold Leaf Team Lotus type 49B, at a reception hosted by Clive Chapman and Classic Team Lotus.
This exceptional race car model has been developed by the dedicated model making team at Amalgam in conjunction with Clive Chapman of Classic Team Lotus. The Lotus 49 has found its way into the history books as one of the most influential F1 designs, having served to introduce the Cosworth engine, sponsorship liveries and wings to Formula One racing (in the 68 Tasman Championship).
The finished model of 49B/R5 is exactly as it was raced by Graham Hill at Monaco in 1968. It features incredible detailing, including the spectacular DFV Cosworth engine in all its glory beneath the removable rear bodywork.

Unveiling the Team Lotus 38/1

Amalgam Fine Model Cars unveilied their superb new 1:8 scale model of the 1965 Indy 500 winning Team Lotus Ford type 38/1 on Thursday 10th January 2013 at a champagne reception hosted by Clive Chapman and Classic Team Lotus at Autosport International at the NEC in Birmingham. The unveiling took place on the Classic Team Lotus stand at 4.30pm, with many accredited media representatives in attendance.
This iconic race car model has been nearly two years in the making and has indeed been a labour of love for the dedicated model making team at Amalgam.
Creating a 1:8 scale replica of the 38 was originally proposed to Amalgam by Jeremy Pierson who first joined Lotus as an eager youth back in 1965 and is still with Classic Team Lotus handling licensing. Jeremy’s enthusiasm for the project was echoed by Clive Chapman and all involved – including The Henry Ford - agreed this was a model that Amalgam needed to make.
In terms of this model build, the Lotus Ford type 38/1 posed all the same challenges that any of the open wheel racers of that period pose, chiefly the exposed nature of the mechanical parts of the car which demand precise detailing as nothing is hidden. We are totally committed to accuracy and precision in the detail of each car as it was on a day or at an event, and the 1:8 scale we work at is generous and capable of delivering every detail and nuance, allowing us to create an exact and authentic scale replica of the original car on race day.
The finished Lotus Ford 38/1 model has removable covers, allowing full access to the incredible detailing of the Ford quad-cam V8, the spectacular ‘spaghetti’ exhausts and the dramatically off-set suspension.
Classic Team Lotus has been an enthusiastic and supremely knowledgeable partner throughout the development of this very special model, with Clive Chapman himself overseeing the approval process at every stage.
This superb model of the Lotus 38/1 was developed with the essential co-operation and assistance of The Henry Ford, who own and display the Lotus-Ford 38/1 in Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, Michigan.

Ralph Lauren Store Jeddah - Launch Event

Amalgam Fine Model Cars were proud to be a part of the May 2012 launch event for the new Ralph Lauren store in Jeddah, KSA.
The new store is located in Al Khayyat Mall and encompasses 6,027 square feet over two floors. The store predominantly features the modern and elegant women's Runway Collection and Collection accessories, plus impeccable men's Purple Label and iconic Polo Ralph Lauren.
During the day, the Amalgam Team spent time talking to the press and training the Ralph Lauren sales staff on all aspects of the models.
At the evening event, Amalgam FMC displayed a selection of fine model cars due to be available for sale exclusively at the store. They included a Ferrari 375 Plus, Jaguar XK120, Bugatti 57SC, Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, Ferrari 250 GTO, Jaguar XK 120 and a McLaren F1 LM. These models remained on display for the duration of the launch week.
The event was attended by members of the Saudi Royal Family and Sandy Copeman and Jon Mills of Amalgam spent some time talking with HRH Prince Faisal bin Turki Al-Faisal, explaining the processes involved in creating replica vehicles of this complexity. Two models went to the Prince, a stunning black Bugatti 57SC and an equally beautiful Ferrari 250 GTO, both modelled on cars in the Ralph Lauren Collection.
The whole trip was very positive for Amalgam and the experience has been invaluable to carry forward for future Ralph Lauren Events around the world.

Amalgam FMC at Ferrari Racing Days Suzuka Japan 2012

It was our great pleasure and honour to attend the Ferrari Racing Days at Suzuka last weekend. Although we have many loyal customers and fans in Japan this was Amalgam’s first visit there. The event was superbly organised by Ferrari Japan and we made many new friends amongst the Ferrari Challenge drivers, owners and fans attending.
Guest of honour at the Gala dinner on Saturday evening was Mika Salo and the evening came to a climax with the auction of clothing signed by Mika followed by a presentation by the CEO of Hublot Jean-Claude Biver, an enormous personality and presence who had the audience rocking as the auction of his personal Big Bang watch, the third in the limited edition made in collaboration with Ferrari, raised around £31,000 for the Ishinomaki City fund topped by £3,000 by M. Biver himself.
Ferrari Racing Days Suzuka 2012 is one of Ferrari’s largest events in the world, appealing not only because it gathers together Ferrari owners, fans, and hundreds of Ferraris, but also because it presents a variety of elaborate attractions such as the first round of Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli - Asia Pacific Series held at the same time.
One of the particular highlights of the event was the Concorso d’Eleganza supported by Hublot, bringing together 18 rare and elegant classic cars from the 50s and 60s.
During the weekend, Hublot and Ferrari revealed for the first time in Japan the Big Bang Ferrari watch, the long-awaited collaboration model showcased to the international press recently at Baselworld 2012 in Switzerland. For this special occasion, Hublot’s Chairman, Jean- Claude Biver flew in to Japan at short notice, holding the press conference in grand style at the event venue, where the races and attractions were in full swing.

Sucess at Nuremberg 2012

Our attendance at the International Toy Fair Nuremberg 2012 on the 1st to the 6th Feb was a great success. We were overwhelmed by the excitement around our stand and we were happy to welcome many enquiries from both new and existing buyers. During the event we were showcasing a number of brand new products including our upcoming 1:8 scale Ferrari 156 ‘Sharknose’ and Porsche GT2 models alongside our fabulous range of modern GT, Historic and F1 models and replicas from Ferrari, McLaren, Bugatti and Lamborghini. We also unveiled a selection of models from our brand new 1:12 scale model collection. All products were very well received and a definite highlight of the event.
