A classic car with mixed history. Carlo Chiti’s creation dominated the 1961 Formula 1 season with the Ferrari drivers Phill Hill (USA) and Wolfgang von Trips (Germany) battling for the title. At Monza in front of the tifosi, von Trips car touched wheels with Jim Clark’s Lotus on the run into Parabolica and tragically crashed into the crowd killing himself along with 15 spectators. Phil Hill won the race and ultimately the title, but found absolutely no joy in it. This small limited edition is very deeply detailed indeed and shows the car exactly as it was driven to victory by Phil Hill at Monza.
We can also make the 156 ‘Sharknose’ #4 Wolfgang Von Tripps version to order. (Images shown above).
