A fine 1:8 large-scale collector’s model of the Mercedes-Benz W196 Streamliner as raced to victory by Juan Manuel Fangio at the Reims Grand Prix in July 1954.
Mercedes did not simply return to the top level of international motorsport but stormed into it. The Germans turned up at the 1954 French Grand Prix at the Reims-Gueux circuit with the new W196 Streamliner with Juan Manuel Fangio at the steering wheel. The Argentine Maestro at the proud age of 43 put the W196 on pole ahead of his two teammates with a full second advantage and on Sunday he and Karl Kling had an easy run to a historical double victory.
This model has been hand-crafted utilising our own CAD data created by scanning an original car in every detail. The resulting prototype has undergone strict scrutiny by Mercedes-Benz to ensure complete accuracy.
