McLaren MP4-30 (2015)
Packing Honda power, for the first time since 1992, the McLaren MP4-30 was driven in the 2015 Formula One Championship by Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso. 2015 marked Alonso’s return to the Woking-based team, eight years after this previous stint. Ending a twenty-year partnership with Mercedes at the finale of the 2014 season, this was a big move for McLaren and also for Honda, who had been absent from the sport for six seasons. *The MP4-30 was nicknamed ‘size zero’ by The Telegraph on its launch, due to its very tapered rear end enabled by Honda’s new engine design that allowed running to occur at higher temperatures in a tight, confined environment. The MP4-30’s best result was at the Hungarian Grand Prix where Alonso took fifth place. The team finished the championship in ninth position.
