The last incarnation of the 275 series, the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 was an important evolution of Ferrari’s signature sports car that already had 4-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes. Presented at the 1966 Paris Auto Salon, the 275 GTB/4 was the first production Ferrari to be fitted with the four overhead camshaft version of the V12, derived directly from the P2 prototype. With it’s Pininfarina designed body, it is considered one of the most beautiful cars of all time and is deliberated by others as the last ‘pure’ Ferrari, as US regulations and business difficulties would force Ferrari to stop producing it after just a year and a half, ceasing in March 1968.

Launched with the new Tipo 226 engine, the basic dimensions and layout of the Ferrari 275 GTB/4’s engine were similar to that of the 3286cc two camshaft unit of the 275 GTB, but fitted with new cylinder heads that featured twin overhead camshafts per bank of cylinders. The engine too benefited from a variety of upgrades that were tried and tested in the 275 competition models, including a long nose bodywork, a torque tube driveline and the provision of a dry sump lubrication system, creating an engine capable of 300 bhp and a claimed top speed of 166.5 mph (268 km/h).

Virtually identical visually to the “long nose” two camshaft models, the 275 GTB/4 had only one easy distinguishing feature without lifting the bonnet: a slim shallow central bulge running from front to rear on the engine cover, built to accommodate the larger air filter housing. As with the two camshaft cars, the Pininfarina designed body was constructed by Scaglietti, normally in steel with aluminium doors, bonnet, and boot lid, although a few examples received full aluminium bodies. Each body was mounted on a 2400mm wheelbase chassis, each virtually identical to that of its predecessor. The car’s standard wheels were alloy with a ten hole design, with the option of Borrani wire wheels throughout production, retained by a triple ear spinner.

A total of 330 Ferrari 275 GTB/4s were manufactured from 1966 to 1968, in the chassis number range 09007 to 11069, before the series was replaced by the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. No competition versions of this model were built, although a number of clients did use lightly modified road cars in various types of events, mainly for their own enjoyment rather than outright victory.

This fine 1:8 scale model is of the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 in its traditional Ferrari red. It has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops using detailed colour and material specifications, and original CAD data created by scanning an original car. Furthermore, it has undergone detailed scrutiny by the engineering and design teams at Ferrari and Ferrari Classiche to ensure complete accuracy of representation. Every Amalgam 1:8 scale model is supplied in a luxury black presentation box and mounted on a carbon fibre or leather base protected by a clear acrylic dust cover. The model title, original branding and edition number are displayed on polished stainless steel plaques mounted at the front end of the base.

The Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is limited to just 199 editions.
