In a rare twist, Amalgam Collection unveils limited edition 1:8 scale model of virtual ‘McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo’

The Amalgam Collection is delighted to present this limited edition 1:8 scale model of the McLaren Ultimate GT, directly from the screen of the Vision Gran Turismo game. We have worked in close collaboration with McLaren’s road car department, McLaren Automotive, with designers Robert Melville (Design Director) and Alexander Alexiev (Lead Designer on the Ultimate Vision GT project) to bring this vision of the future to life, in a rare twist where this model of the concept car will be the only physical manifestation of a purely digital design at large scale.

Unrestrained by current production car constraints, the Vision Gran Turismo project was the brainchild of Japanese game designer and racing car driver, Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the GT video game series. The McLaren Ultimate Vision GT was borne out of McLaren Automotive, who set about creating ‘the’ fantasy McLaren road car with an eye for the year 2030 and beyond.

The model, which at 1:8 scale measures in at around 60cm/24 inches long, is limited to a total of 91 pieces presented in three different liveries. The first model of the run featuring the lead livery, ‘Performance’ is already on display in the McLaren design office. A further 30 models of each livery – ‘Performance’, ‘Noir de Noir’ and ‘Ulterior Future’ – are available here for general purchase. Uniquely, three early concept sketches of the car, all signed by Alexander Alexiev, accompany each model.

Each model bears a uniquely numbered plaque, individually signed by designers Melville and Alexiev, and is mounted on a new base design created especially for this edition. The retail price of the model is GBP £5,815.00/EUR €6.980.00/USD $7,440.00 plus shipping.
