Revealing the The Race Weathered Ford GT40

Race Weathered models now available at 1:18 scale

Introducing the latest development in our Race Weathered collection: the Ford GT40 at 1:18 scale. The model captures this most iconic car as it was raced to victory by Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the 14th and 15th of June 1969. Models from the first batch of this special edition are now available to order for dispatch in June.

Each model in this unique edition will be meticulously and individually hand-painted and detailed by our artisans in our Bristol workshop to show every detail, chip, spray of mud and splash of oil accrued by the car during the 24 hours of intense competition, right down to the John Wyer Automotive mechanic handprints on the bodywork. Each model will be accompanied by an archive quality A2 portrait size Giclée print of the car after its race victory, selected by Amalgam from the Motorsport Images collection.

Race Weathered Ford GT40

1966 marked the beginning of the GT40 legend. A 1-2-3 victory at Daytona was quickly followed by another victory at Sebring. However, it was the Le Mans crown that Ford coveted. Ford assembled an army for the race that year: nine cars, over 100 personnel with 21 tonnes of spare parts. Ford defeated Ferrari in style, dominating the podium with the top three finishers and becoming the first American manufacturer to emerge victorious at Le Mans. Le Mans wins followed for the GT40 for three more years, establishing the GT40 as one of the most iconic race cars of all time. Ferrari did not win at Le Mans again for over fifty years.
