TAILOR MADE MODELS

THE JOURNEY

Creating your model will take around 20 weeks from order to delivery.

The following information describes the journey.

Amalgam will keep you informed, step by step.

STEP 1.

YOUR CAR SPECIFIED

Your model has been ordered with Amlagam's Sales Team, and allocated a slot in Amalgam's build schedule.

Every part of the specification you have defined has been shared with Amalgam, enabling their team of craftspeople to perfectly reproduce your car at 1:8 scale.

STEP 2.

CASTING

The build of your model has now commenced with casting the components.

Amalgam has created a set of patterns, the master parts for every component of the model.

From the patterns, soft tools are made from clear silicon rubber, into which prototyping quality resin is poured to create a specific set of parts for your model.

STEP 3.

FITTING

The cast components of your model have been cleaned up and finessed.

They are now being hand finished and adjusted so that the parts fit perfectly together with the correct shut lines and clearances.

STEP 4.

PAINTING & FINISHING

The parts of your model have now arrived in the spray-painting department. Amalgam will use the manufacturer specified paint formulation to precisely match the colour of your car.

Each component will be given several coats of primer, then a colour base coat, followed by a coat of lacquer.

Finally, each painted part of your model will be polished to achieve a truely fine finish.

STEP 5.

ASSEMBLY

Your model has now arrived in the assembly workshop.

It will be assembled by a small team of modelmakers each specialising in a specific aspect of the work.

STEP 6.

APPROVAL

Your model has been assembled and we now invite your feedback and approval.

We ask you to carefully check a comprehensive set of photographs of the model for any errors or omissions, so that we can make any necessary adjustments before we ship it to you.

STEP 7.

MODEL SHIPPED

Your model has undergone an extensive quality control check and is now ready to ship.
