Red Bull RB6 (2010) Nosecone

Sold Out

Building on the performance gains made in 2009, the RB6 was Red Bull Racing’s competitor for the 2010 campaign. Driven by Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, it was the successor to the RB5, which was widely acknowledged as the fastest car in the latter half of the previous season. With the same technical team, led by Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey, the RB6 was a clear evolution of its predecessor, despite many changes underneath.

The RB6 burst out of the blocks, taking pole position in the first seven races, though it had the wait until the third race in Malaysia to convert that into a victory, as Vettel led a 1-2 finish. Further victories followed in Spain and Monaco and saw Red Bull take the lead in the Championship, though this wasn’t to last longer than a race. Consistent podium and points finishes kept Red Bull close to the top and they regained the initiative after victories at Valencia, Silverstone and the Hungaroring. Red Bull wouldn’t cede the top spot again until the start of the 2012 season. A surprise double retirement in Korea, as Webber crashed and Vettel suffered an engine failure, delayed the victory celebrations but two weeks later, at the penultimate race in Brazil, Red Bull secured their first Constructors’ Championship as with a 1-2 finish led by Vettel. The Drivers’ Championship contest went right down to the final race in Abu Dhabi. Webber started the race eight points behind the leader Fernando Alonso, whilst Vettel followed by 15. Vettel took victory in the race and, as a result of Alonso’s seventh and Webber’s eighth place finishes, clinched his maiden Drivers’ Championship title by four points, becoming the youngest Championship winner, a title previously held by Lewis Hamilton. He also became the first driver to lead the championship for the first time and win the championship simultaneously since James Hunt in Japan in 1976. Before he left Red Bull in 2014, Vettel professed his adoration for the RB6, saying it was his favourite F1 car to drive in his career to date.

Overall, the RB6 won nine races, earned eleven further podiums, fifteen pole positions and scored 498 points, winning both the Constructors’ Championship and the Drivers’ Championship.
