We are delight to announce that the next batch of 1:18 scale Ferrari F50 replicas has been completed and that they are now available to purchase. After being hand-cast, fettled, painted and meticulously assembled, these precise scale recreations undergo a rigorous quality control process by our model makers to ensure the details perfectly match those on the prototype model, which has itself undergone detailed scrutiny by the design and engineering teams at Ferrari.
Built to celebrate the Scuderia’s fiftieth birthday, the F50 was the closest machine to a road-going Formula One car that Ferrari had ever built in 1995. A purist, track-inspired approach fused supreme engine performance with a car bereft of power steering, power assisted braking and ABS brakes. It was powered by a 4.7 litre V12 engine that was based on the 3.5 litre V12 unit used in the 1990 Formula One contender piloted by Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell, and the chassis construction had made full use of complex composite materials and Formula One inspired construction methods. As such, the F50 was the closest machine to a road-going Formula One car that Ferrari had built to date.
