The Dawn of a New Era
In 2004, the reborn BUGATTI brand transformed the world of performance and luxury with the 1,001 hp Veyron — the first road car to surpass 1,000 horsepower. Twelve years later, the Chiron redefined what was possible once again with a 1,500 hp evolution of the iconic 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine, resetting the limits of speed, power and refinement. Now, twenty years after BUGATTI invented the hyper sports car, it redefines the concept completely. With an astonishing 1,800 hp from an entirely new hybrid powertrain and platform, the BUGATTI Tourbillon begins a new era for Molsheim — one driven as much by emotion as by innovation.
Pour l’Éternité
The Tourbillon’s name is drawn from the world of haute horlogerie — the tourbillon mechanism that conquers gravity to preserve perfect time. In the same spirit, BUGATTI’s Tourbillon is engineered to transcend eras: a car destined to remain mechanically and aesthetically timeless. As the first BUGATTI in over two decades not powered by the legendary W16, it marks a decisive evolution in philosophy — and with it, the tradition of naming core models after Bugatti’s racing heroes comes to a close. Guided by Ettore’s enduring principles — “if comparable, it is no longer Bugatti” and “nothing is too beautiful” — the Tourbillon bridges past and future, celebrating the mechanical purity that has always defined the marque while embracing the electrified age with uncompromising artistry.
Unmistakably BUGATTI
From every perspective, the Tourbillon embodies the sculptural elegance of BUGATTI design. The signature horseshoe grille anchors the form, framed by the sweeping Bugatti Line that arcs across the body in one fluid motion. The car sits lower, narrower and more athletic than its predecessors, with surfaces honed purely by the flow of air. The dual-tone bodywork pays homage to more than a century of design heritage, while the proportions express a new tension — a blend of strength and grace that makes the Tourbillon appear alive even at rest. Within, an instrument cluster handcrafted by Swiss watchmakers — composed of over 600 individual parts of titanium, sapphire and ruby — is the beating heart of an entirely analogue cockpit. Crystal glass, exposed aluminium and the finest leathers celebrate authentic materiality, designed to age with the same elegance as a fine mechanical timepiece.
Engineering the Impossible
Beneath its sculpted form lies an entirely new chassis and body structure, conceived to set fresh standards in stiffness, safety and lightness. Constructed from next-generation T800 carbon composite, the Tourbillon’s architecture integrates numerous weight-saving innovations. The 25 kWh, 800-volt battery pack forms a structural part of the monocoque, enhancing rigidity while lowering mass and centre of gravity. At the rear, an unprecedented crash-composite diffuser — inspired by top-level motorsport — is integrated directly into the load path, while the front composite airducts flow through the structure itself to optimise both cooling and aerodynamics. Low-pressure thin-wall aluminium castings and 3D-printed structural braces further reduce weight and increase precision, resulting in a platform that is significantly lighter and stiffer than that of the Chiron.
Evolving the Legacy
Powering the Tourbillon is an all-new 8.3-litre naturally aspirated V16 engine paired with three electric motors — two on the front axle, one at the rear — delivering a combined 1,800 hp. The hybrid system’s 25 kWh, 800-volt battery provides up to 60 km of electric range and instant torque vectoring for unparalleled response. A new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures seamless power delivery, while the car’s lighter, more compact structure enhances agility and balance. The result is a machine capable of exceeding 445 km/h, yet defined not by statistics but by sensation — a symphony of sound, power and precision that connects directly with the driver. The Tourbillon is not simply the successor to the Chiron, but the reinvention of the hyper sports car itself: a creation Pour l’éternité — for eternity.
This fine 1:4 scale model of the BUGATTI Tourbillon V16 Engine and Gearbox has been handcrafted and finished in Amalgam's workshops using CAD directly from BUGATTI’s design studio allowing them to perfectly recreate every detail at scale, right down to the numerous parts labels and barcodes. The appearance of each individual material in the engine has been artistically captured at scale using special processes and finishes as befits the BUGATTI Tourbillon design. This extremely accurate replication of the actual engine has relied heavily on Amalgam’s close relationship with the BUGATTI design and engineering teams. Finally, the prototype model has undergone detailed scrutiny by BUGATTI’s design and engineering teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
