Ayrton Senna Version
1988 dawned with a high level of optimism at McLaren’s UK headquarters. A new Honda V6 engine was delivered and Ayron Senna joined Alain Prost to complete the driver line-up. Furthermore, having driven just a few laps in the new MP4/4, Alain Prost reportedly told team boss Ron Dennis that he knew the car would win the World Championship. *Winning 15 out of 16 races, the MP4/4 was the stuff of history books with many Formula One historians believing that it was McLaren’s best ever Grand Prix car. This model is of the chassis raced to victory at the 1988 Japanese Grand Prix to secure the drivers’ title for Ayrton Senna. It was Senna's eighth win of the season, which beat the record for total wins in a single season, previously held by Jim Clark and current team-mate Alain Prost.
