Aston Martin Razor Blade Half Tone Flat Bed Editions
Envisioned as the first lightweight car to surpass 100 mph, the Bamford & Martin Single Seater—known as the “Razor Blade”—is one of Aston Martin’s most extraordinary early creations. At just 18.5 inches (47 cm) wide, its razor-thin body earned its unique moniker. Built in collaboration with de Havilland, its sharply tapered chassis and smooth, aerodynamic lines gave it a striking profile and exceptional straight-line speed, powered by a bespoke 55 hp, four-cylinder, twin-cam engine crafted for the 1922 French Grand Prix. In 1923, the Razor Blade lapped Brooklands at 103–104 mph, narrowly missing the 100 mph record due to tyre failures. Yet it quickly proved its prowess: Major Frank Halford won on its debut, and later that year it set standing-start mile and kilometre records. Radical in design and formidable on the track, the Razor Blade remains a pioneering icon in both Aston Martin’s heritage and motorsport history.
