First unveiled by Ferrari on the 9th September 2025, the 849 Testarossa succeeds the SF90 Stradale as the latest offering in Maranello’s range of hybrid plug-in super sports berlinettas, with its name paying homage to Ferrari’s 70-year legacy of some of the most iconic Ferraris ever developed. Simultaneously blending futuristic geometries with classic Ferrari design cues, the 849 Testarossa flaunts exceptional exterior bodywork, exquisite interior refinement and uncompromised performance.
Technological Developments
At the heart of the 849 Testarossa lies Ferrari’s multi-award-winning 830 cv twin-turbo V8 engine. Working in harmony with three electric motors, this exceptional engine powers the car’s plug-in hybrid system to create a powertrain capable of delivering 1050 cv – a new benchmark for a production Ferrari. Additional advancements include the new turbocharger, which incorporates technology derived from both the F80 and the 296 GT3 to optimise thermal management within the engine compartment. The 849 Testarossa also marks a significant sustainability milestone, becoming the first Prancing Horse model to utilise recycled aluminium secondary alloys for engine castings – an innovation which has reduced CO2 emissions per kilogram of aluminium by up to 80%.
The acoustic character of the V8 has also been enhanced to offer a new and distinctive sound experience, while maintaining the powerful timbre of the Ferrari V8 engine. The revised gear shift strategy, derived from the SF90 XX Stradale, further enriches the driving experience with a sharper and more engaging acoustic quality.
The 849 Testarossa further delivers amplified performance, consistency and accessibility, with enhanced electronic controls through the new Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator, as well as the introduction of the ABS Evo developed for the SF90 XX Stradale, offering drivers maximum driving thrills even in the most demanding conditions.
A Sculpted Design
Inspired by the sculptural forms of Ferrari design from the 1980s, the front of the Testarossa showcases a distinctive bridge-like horizontal fascia joining the headlights, a design theme similar to that of the 12Cilindri and the F80, creating a dramatic full-width spoiler effect. The lower section of the bumper is also embellished with body-coloured flicks and the black splitter, reinforcing the car’s purposeful stance.
At the rear, two tail elements – derived from the 512 S – work in conjunction with the active wing to create a patented aerodynamic solution. The rear bumper accentuates the car’s sporting character, whilst the design naturally guides the eye towards the iconic round tailpipes. The tail is completed by a full-width diffuser, dominated by the pronounced form at the centre. Inspired by the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB, the active rear spoiler is integrated into the bodywork and is capable of transitioning between Low Drag and High Downforce configurations in less than a second, combining outstanding form with uncompromising functionality.
The side view is defined by the car’s doors, whose upper surfaces have been deeply sculpted to create a complex three-dimensional character never seen on a standard production car before, achieved through a single aluminium alloy moulding. The prominent crease line stretches along the car’s flank rearwards, offering a double tail design and creating the impression of a more compact cabin.
The 849 Testarossa’s forged wheels have been meticulously engineered to optimise the car’s aerodynamic performance, enhanced by the extended diamond-cut finish to improve air extraction and control wake. The car’s tyres have been co-developed with Michelin, Pirelli and Bridgestone to deliver optimal performance across a range of driving conditions.
Within the cockpit, the upper section of the dashboard showcases a floating appearance, while the lower part features two architectural sail motifs which house the control functions. Derived from the F80, the gate is incorporated into the sail beside the steering wheel in a floating position, whilst the revised design of the central tunnel adopts a more minimalist and intuitive layout of the secondary controls.
Inspired by the marque’s sporting spirit, the 849 Testarossa at 1:8 scale is available in the bold Rosso Fiammante – a new finish derived from Ferrari’s iconic Rosso Corsa, further enhanced by a metallic effect offering warm and brilliant reflections beneath sunlight. This model is also finished with a sophisticated Nero interior, enriched by accents of Blu Elettrico. Hand-built and assembled with the finest materials, this fine scale model is limited to just 199 pieces, created using original CAD designs, paint codes and material specifications from Ferrari, allowing us to perfectly recreate each detail at scale. Furthermore, the model has undergone detailed scrutiny by Ferrari’s engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
The Ferrari 849 Testarossa in Rosso Fiammante is limited to an edition of 199 pieces at 1:8 scale.
