In the lead-up to the Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc narrowly missed pole position to Max Verstappen in Sprint Qualifying and finished second in the Sprint Race, while Carlos Sainz qualified fifth. During the main event, Leclerc starting from second, following Verstappen, faced early pressure from Oscar Piastri, who managed to pass him after a series of perfectly planned pit stops and a Safety Car incident that benefitted Lando Norris who took his maiden victory. Despite a strong effort, Leclerc finished the race in third, just two seconds behind Verstappen, while Sainz was initially fourth but was demoted to fifth after being deemed at fault for a collision with Piastri.
