Please note that only the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 and GT3 (2016) models are only available as part of a Limited Edition.
The racing variant of the 488 GTB, the GT3 replaced the 458 GT3. Powered by the 488’s twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8, the GT3 produces around 600hp, less than the road car thanks to power restrictions in its race category. However, a 215kg weight saving ensured any straight-line speed lost would be minimal.
The Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo (2018) 488 GT3 Evo 2020 both represent evolutions of the model, developed as a result of Ferrari’s to attempts further refine certain aspects of one of its most successful cars. Unveiled at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali at Mugello, the engineering team behind the GT3 Evo used innovative concepts derived from Ferrari’s track experience and feedback from the teams competing with the 488 GT3. Ferrari’s engineers honed the 488 GT3 Evo’s aerodynamics, spending over 18,000 hours on calculations and CFD simulations, followed by wind tunnel testing. The 488 GT3’s vehicle dynamics were key in its success and had been further improved in the 488 GT3 Evo. The wheelbase is longer, matching the 488 GTE, to optimise tyre use, reduce tyre wear and facilitate the conversion from GT3 to GTE. The engineers also focused on reducing the car’s weight with the result that more ballast could be used to attain the minimum weight imposed by the Balance of Performance, thus lowering the centre of gravity. In addition, all the vehicle dynamic controls, including the traction control and ABS, were optimised.
The 488 GT3 has been a strong contender across the GT3 category, with race victories coming at the 2017 12 Hours of Bathurst and the 2018 12 Hours of Navarra. The GT3 has won the 2018 International GT Open and the 2018 Iron Cup in the Blancpain GT Sports Club and dominated the 12 Hours of Yas Marina, winning three years running from 2016-2018. In the Italian GT3 series, the GT3 has performed well, particularly in the hands of Black Bull Swiss Racing, claiming many race victories at the most demanding circuits like the Red Bull Ring, Paul Ricard, Spa, Imola and Mugello. In its Evo form, the GT3 has continuing to compete, taking podiums at Imola, Monza. Misano and Vallelunga, as well as multiple race wins at Mugello.
